The theme was 'Tax Revenue as an Enabler of Economic Growth – What are the Challenges?' the conference provided an opportunity to reflect on the opportunities and challenges facing the profession especially focusing on the role professional accountants play to safeguard the public interest and accountability. There were four speakers and session chaired by Mr Jack Walom, CPA PNG NGI Branch Manager. The Role of Tax and Tax Legislation topic presented by Paul Barker, Director Institute of National Affairs (INA) while Wilson Matava, Acting Provincial Administrator East New Britain and Stephen Beach, Managing Partner PwC Lae Branch presented topics on Tax Revenue as an enabler of Economic Growth in East New Britain Province and Corporate Income Tax Technical and Practical Aspects respectively.
