Health and Population Sect oral Committee
The Health and Population Sectoral Committee maintains consultation between government, private sector and civil society to discuss issues affecting health service delivery in the country and attempts to develop strategies to address them. Its’ main objective is to act as a forum in which members share information, planning and coordinated advocacy in the areas of health, HIV/AIDS and Population.
In 2007, the Committee has been raising concerns particularly on population related issues among other important issues. The Committee felt that control mechanisms should be established and that the government should proactively recognize this issue as it would greatly impact negatively on the economy in the near future. However, there is need to engage civil society groups on health and population issues especially where multiple players are affected and there is no clear solution on how to address certain issues such as HIV/AIDS, social cash transfers for orphaned and vulnerable children, and how to efficiently deliver medical supplies and drugs to remote villages.
